Cat Nap

I'm not sure if this blog really needs another cat... but here's one anyway!
I've been mixing traditional print processes with pencil crayon. Its so nice to draw just for fun.

'Angry Arthur' Children's Book

Here's a sneaky peek at three of the final artworks from my dummy book...
It's the story of 'Angry Arthur', written by Hiawyn Oram.
(The idea being that the storm literally builds up inside of Arthur!)

Gig poster for Duelling Kazoos.

Editorial Project

Here's a quick editorial illustration. The article was called 'Making it pay as an intern', from the Guardian newspaper.
Is he really on the road to success...? (Poor little guy!)

Animal Alphabet

Its an Animal Alphabet! I settled with Unicorn for the letter 'U', and went with Xenarthra, an order of mammals comprising of the edentates, for the letter 'X' (explaining the Armadillo!). Hopefully you can work out the rest. :)

Excuse: This guy had to be drawn, he was posing!

Editorial Illustration

So it is the end of the 1st year and to be perfectly honest, I think it went too quickly!
I thought I had better show a bit of course work from the final term, but don't worry another cat doodle will inevitably be on its way soon. These are a few images for an 'Applied Illustration' project, focusing on editorial illustration. Working conceptually has been brilliant fun, who'd have thunk?

'Unforgettable' - An article about a woman who is unable to forget.

'Dig Your Own Doctor' - An article about growing your own medicine.

'Can Worries Really Be Sealed In An Envelope?' - An article discussing methods of finding closure.

'Are Our Lives A Journey, A River, Or Perhaps A Pizza?' - An article philosophizing over the meaning of life.

 And some sketch book thinking:
Lots of ideas.

'Colonel Fazackerley Butterworth-Toast'

This is my second attempt at a children's book, and this time its the rhyming story of 'Colonel Fazackerley Butterworth-Toast', and guess what, he lived in a castle complete with a ghost!

Somewhere along the line the Colonel became a beaver and the ghost became a wolf...
